Tim is the Managing Director of Semantic Consulting, a health consulting firm focused on leading digital change in healthcare.
Tim's recent work includes developing and implementing a Digital Health Strategy for Primary Health Tasmania, developing the "Mobile Strategy for the My Health Record" and "Future Design for the My Health Record" for the Commonwealth Department of Health and leading the update of the National Electronic Medications Management Strategy for NEHTA. Tim played a key role in the development of a mobile, FHIR-based API for the My Health Record.
He has formerly held roles as Chief Information Officer of the Tasmanian Department of Health and Human Services (and member of the Tasmanian Health Executive Team), Director of Rural eHealth Strategy at New South Wales Health and Strategic Digital Health Advisor at NEHTA and the Commonwealth Dept of Health.
Tim has been a member of HL7 for the past two years. He has attended the last two HL7 International WGMs as a self-funded attendee, in order to better understand the organisation and make a contribution to the FHIR core team. He was a contributor to the recent work to develop implementation guidance for the use of v2, CDA and FHIR in Australia.
If elected to the HL7 Australia board, Tim will bring a transparent and collaborative style, with a focus on cooperation and ensuring that HL7 Australia remains relevant in the face of a rapidly changing industry.
Tim is well connected in the Health IT industry in Australia and the US, and will use this to further the reach of HL7 Australia.
Tim believes in lowering the barriers to the adoption of health information standards, and will seek to ensure that everything possible is done to reduce the impediments to greater adoption and usage.
