First HL7 AU Medications Work Group meeting

Posted by Rebbecca Matthews. 2 May, 2016.

11 April 2016 was an exciting day for HL7 Australia and its members with the launch of our own Working Group Meetings.  With the increasing interest within the Australian e-health domain for standards, the HL7 Australia Board are pleased to be able to provide a platform for collaborative and consensus-driven standards development.

The first WGM was held on the 11 April, with the initial three Work Groups (Orders and Observations, Medications and Patient Administration) and the Technical Steering Committee (TSC) all holding their first meetings.  Each WG had a number of HL7 Australia members attend and it was exciting to see the start of this new initiative take shape.

Following a similar format from the HL7 International Working Group Meetings, the HL7 Australia WGM will be held three times a year, with the next one to be held 6, 7 & 8 July 2016 in Sydney.  This three day event will not only have Work Group meetings, but also tutorials and other educational opportunities such as Connectathons.  More details will be made available in the coming weeks.

Between every WGM, each Work Group meet via teleconference on a regular basis to continue working on identified standards projects.  These meetings are open to all to participate – both members and interested public.

Each Work Group has its own space on the HL7 Australia Standards Collaborations Centre – you are able to view active Work Groups, find out the next meeting date and details, view and contribute to current draft standards and resources.   The Standards Collaboration Centre can be found at http://confluence.hl7australia.com.

The Medications Work Group will be meeting via teleconference on Monday 9 May 2016 at 2pm.  Meeting details can be found at the Medications Work Group space and is open to all to attend and participate.  HL7 Australia members who are interested in this space are especially encouraged to dial in and participate in this working group.
